Dr. Ali Abbas

Biography

Ali Abbas is an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa with a strong background in electrical and computer engineering, holding both a PhD and MSc from the same institution, as well as a B.Eng. from Concordia University. He is an entrepreneur and industry leader in intelligent health informatics, passionate about education and inspiring future engineers. He has extensive experience offering training in AI technologies and systems engineering to government and private sector bodies. Ali is a co-founder and manager of KI Design and has previously held significant roles in eHealth Ontario and other notable Canadian companies like CAE Electronics, Nortel Networks, and Mitel Networks. His research interests lie in medical engineering, specifically focusing on intelligent health informatics and telemedicine, including vision-guided autonomous robotic surgery. He develops artificial intelligence algorithms for medical diagnosis and AI treatment plans, explores medical protocol modeling automation, and innovates AI techniques for clinical reasoning. Ali’s dedication to his field positions him as a leader capable of delivering creative and effective solutions through research and application of AI in health care.
