Biography

Ali Abedini is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Interface Fluidics Ltd. With over 15 years of combined academic and industry experience in energy technology development, he leads corporate strategic planning and oversees technical execution, operational strategy, project management, and product research and development. Ali Abedini holds a B.Sc. in Reservoir Engineering, an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Systems Engineering. He actively contributes to the scientific community as a technical reviewer, editorial board member, and committee member for peer-reviewed journals, funding agencies, and conferences, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the SPE Regional Completions Optimization Technology Award, ASTech Outstanding Science Technology Start-Up Award, NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship, Saskatchewan Innovation Opportunity Award, and the University Dean’s Scholarship. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta and Ontario.
