Biography

Ali Ahadi is an Iranian-Canadian artist and writer based in Vancouver, known for his interdisciplinary practice that spans site-specific ephemeral installations, sculpture, and photo-video-based works, alongside writing and translation. His artistic approach engages with conceptual dualities and addresses the complexities of presentation and representation. Ahadi's work comprises representational images, videos, and composite objects that challenge conventional artistic notions and explore the aestheticization of presence. His doctoral research introduces new models for critically engaging with historical and contemporary issues in art, politics, and philosophy, particularly through the lens of 'Thought-Activism' and the reconfiguration of the art spectator's experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies focused on continental philosophy from the University of British Columbia, and an MFA in Visual Arts. As an internationally exhibited artist, he has held solo exhibitions, including the notable 'Shit Academy' at Goh Ballet Academy in Tehran, Iran.
