Biography

Ali Bramson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. in Planetary Sciences with a minor in Geosciences from the University of Arizona in 2018, and he holds a Master of Science in Planetary Sciences from the same institution. Furthermore, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, with additional minors in Astronomy-Physics and Computer Science, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on quantitative geomorphology of planetary bodies, particularly the effects of ice volatiles on the surfaces of solid bodies throughout the solar system. Dr. Bramson employs a mix of spacecraft remote sensing observations, theoretical modeling, and, when necessary, fieldwork at terrestrial analog sites to tackle these scientific challenges. His work on Martian mid-latitude ice formations strives to inform future human exploration missions to Mars. Over the years, he has received several honors, including the 'Forward 40' award from the Wisconsin Alumni Association in 2019 and the Gerard P. Kuiper Memorial Award in 2018.
