Biography

Ali Glisson is a PhD candidate specializing in Economic Geography at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research focuses on growth, decline, and change within American urban system cities, with significant literature investigating the concept of Superstar Cities. This research explores the characteristics of high-income levels, high-skill labor, and large populations associated with these cities, as well as the opposite end of the spectrum where areas experience rapid deindustrialization. Glisson's work aims to understand the pathways of urban development and the dynamic changes taking place in polarised parts of the American urban system. He has over 15 years of experience consulting for C-suite executives and elected officials, particularly in the political and regulatory environments of the United States. He holds a Master's degree in Local Economic Development and an Executive MSc in Cities from the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor's degree in International Affairs from George Washington University.
