Biography

Ali Golestani completed his BSc and MSc in Electrical Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tehran, Iran and earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary. He has completed postdoctoral fellowships at NYU Medical Center and the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest. Golestani has experience as an MRI physicist at the Toronto Neuroimaging Facility from 2016 to 2021 before joining Alberta Health Services in October 2021. Currently, he works as a medical physicist specializing in MRI at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research primarily focuses on neuroimaging, investigating brain physiology, function, and connectivity using functional MRI techniques. He is particularly interested in developing MRI acquisition and processing methods for applications in cancer treatment, especially the role of functional MRI in oncology including diffusion, perfusion, and spectroscopy assessments.
