Biography

Associate Professor Ali Isin is a Visiting Fellow at the School of Population Health, Faculty of Medicine & Health at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He earned his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees from the Institute of Health Sciences at Akdeniz University. His research primarily focuses on lower extremity malalignment in football players, particularly genu varum. Ali has worked as a Research Assistant from 2017 to 2023 and served as an Assistant Professor at Akdeniz University from 2023 to 2025. He is a member of the editorial board of BMC Public Health and serves as a review editor for Frontiers in Psychology. His research interests include drowning prevention, sports injuries, lower extremity alignment, and talent selection in performance analysis for football. Dr. Isin's postdoctoral research has been supported by a fellowship from the Scientific Technological Research Institution of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). He is actively involved in interdisciplinary projects aimed at improving health outcomes and sports performance. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) network, contributing to the GBD Study, a significant global health research initiative. In 2025, he will be a member of the UNSW Beach Safety Research Group, engaging in multidisciplinary research focused on coastal safety and drowning prevention.
