Biography

Ali Javey holds the Lam Research Distinguished Chair at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). He serves as a senior faculty scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he leads the Electronic Materials program. As a co-director of the Berkeley Sensor Actuator Center (BSAC), Javey's research interests lie in the generation of electronic materials and devices. He completed his Ph.D. in chemistry at Stanford University in 2005 after being awarded a Junior Fellowship by the Harvard Society Fellows from 2005 to 2006 before joining the faculty at UC Berkeley. Javey has received numerous accolades such as the Dan Maydan Prize in Nanoscience Research, the MRS Outstanding Young Investigator Award, and the National Academy of Sciences Award for Initiatives in Research, among others. He is an elected Fellow of the IEEE and an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow, recognized for his contributions to the field of nanotechnology and electronic materials.
