Biography

Ali Kaveh is a Sessional Instructor in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia. His academic journey started with a Bachelor's degree in Persian Language Literature from Herat University, followed by a Master's degree in Sociology from Pune University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Shanghai University, which he is expected to complete in July 2024. Kaveh teaches undergraduate courses focusing on social theories, research methodologies, gender studies, migration, ethnicity, and religion. Kaveh's research primarily addresses gender inequality, women's empowerment, masculinity, and mental health, with recent studies investigating the identity construction processes of Afghan young adult immigrants in Canada. His collaborations include working with the School of Psychology at the University of East London.
