Biography

Alia Salleh is currently a PhD candidate specializing in Human Geography and Urban Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research focuses on the privatization of urban spaces in Kuala Lumpur and examines the transformations shaping urban citizenship. Alia’s academic interests align with broader themes of urban spatial justice, gentrification, and state-citizen relations. Her career also includes a role as a Special Officer within the Ministry of Finance in Malaysia and as an equity bond analyst for Permodalan Nasional Berhad. Alia holds an MSc in Urbanisation and Development from LSE, where her dissertation received the prestigious LSE SEAC Postgraduate Dissertation Prize.
