Professor Aliaksandr S. Bandarenka carries out research in the field of physics energy conversion storage. His main topics encompass the design and implementation of functional materials and understanding the characterization of electrified interfaces. His approach to material design is centered on a bottom-up methodology, utilizing knowledge from electrochemical surface science, starting from model surfaces. Bandarenka obtained his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the Belarusian State University in 2002 and completed his PhD in 2005 under the supervision of Dr. G.A. Ragoisha. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Twente in the Netherlands and later helped develop new proton conducting electrolytes. In 2008, he joined the Technical University of Denmark, focusing on electrocatalysis and energy conversion. In 2010, he became the group leader at the Center for Electrochemical Sciences at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. In 2014, he took on the role of W2 professor at TUM, advancing to W3 Professor in 2020.
