Biography

Aliaksandra Rakovich received her PhD in 2011 with supervision from Professor John F. Donegan at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Her doctoral research focused on the interactions of colloidal semiconductor quantum dots with biomaterials and membrane proteins in photosynthetic reaction centers. Following her PhD, she joined the Physics Department at Imperial College London, serving as a Research Associate for four years under the guidance of Professor Stefan Maier. In October 2017, she transitioned to King's College London, where she took on the role of Research Fellow and later became a Senior Lecturer in the Physics Department. Her research interests encompass biomimetic nanophotonic systems, employing nanoparticles for biomedical applications, and nano-enhanced biophotonic materials. Furthermore, she investigates light-matter interactions, plasmonic systems, and their implications for directed transport of analytes. Her recent work includes contributions to peer-reviewed journals in fields related to quantum dots, near-infrared-active conjugated polymer nanoparticles, and hybrid plasmonic biosensing.
