Biography

Alice Baker is a Lecturer at Columbia Law School, specializing in environmental law. She currently serves as an assistant corporation counsel in the Environmental Law Division of the New York City Law Department. In this role, Alice deals with a wide range of municipal environmental issues, advising city agencies, negotiating settlements, and defending the City in various environmental litigations. She also represents the City in plaintiff challenges related to climate change and affirmative coalition litigation. Prior to joining the Law Department, Alice was a Senior Attorney at PennFuture, a Pennsylvania-based environmental nonprofit organization. She has worked with the Super Law Group, LLC, and has served as the Director of the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute (NYCELLI), an organization aimed at informing, equipping, and inspiring new environmental attorneys. Alice holds a J.D. and a Master’s in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School, as well as a B.A. from Bard College.
