Biography

Alice Bleby is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Taxation at Monash Business School. She researches and teaches environmental law, focusing on sustainability and climate law, with particular interests in the rights of nature and legal personhood for nature. Her work analyzes emerging legal responses to rapidly evolving environmental problems and seeks to strengthen legal protections for nature in the context of the unprecedented environmental crisis. Alice is currently completing her PhD, which investigates the legal recognition of nature as a legal subject in the context of the Anthropocene. Prior to her role at Monash, she worked as a research assistant, independent consultant, and manager in policy roles for the Victorian Government, providing policy advice on climate change issues. Alice enjoys teaching, especially environmental law, and serves as the Unit Coordinator for BTX3100 Sustainability Regulation Business.
