Biography

Dr. Alice Jarry is an Associate Professor in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia University, where she holds a Research Chair in Critical Practices in Materials and Materiality. As an artist-researcher, she specializes in site-specific responsive works, art-science practices, and socio-environmental design. Her research critically examines the aesthetics, politics, and sustainability of materiality and urban infrastructures. Currently, Dr. Jarry focuses on waste, residual matter, and active biomaterials/composites in the built environment, aiming to provoke the emergence of adaptive, resilient socio-environmental relationships through engaged processes of transformation. She is also an Associate Director at the Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture, and Technology and directs the Milieux Speculative Life Biolab. Her work has been showcased in various prestigious venues across Canada, the United States, and Europe, including the Centre George Pompidou in Paris and the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. Dr. Jarry collaborates with multiple institutions, exploring innovative solutions for sustainable interfaces and hybrid materials.
