Dr. Alice Kuo

Biography

Alice Kuo is a professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She is also an associate professor in internal medicine, pediatrics, and psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Kuo's research interests primarily focus on early childhood, with published work in areas including developmental screening services, early literacy practices, and cognitive language development in young minority children. She has been involved in educational programs aimed at high school and post-graduate fellows and co-directs a Training Core for the NHLBI-funded Center for Population Health and Health Disparities, working with disadvantaged high school students in East Los Angeles. Additionally, she directs the Maternal Child Health Bureau-funded Pathways to Students in Health Professions program, guiding disadvantaged undergraduate students interested in public health careers. Dr. Kuo teaches a course on Foundations of Maternal Child Health at UCLA each year and serves as the program director for the UCLA Combined Internal Medicine Pediatrics Residency Program. She has contributed to numerous publications focusing on health care access, developmental services, and pediatric health outcomes.
