Biography

Alice Thorneywork is an Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry and a Royal Society University Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. She completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and DPhil in Physical Theoretical Chemistry at Christ Church, University of Oxford. Her doctoral research, conducted under the supervision of Professor Roel Dullens, focused on the use of experimental colloidal model systems to probe the structure, dynamics, and phase behavior of two-dimensional hard sphere fluids. In 2016, Alice moved to the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge to join Professor Ulrich Keyser's research group as a postdoc. She held the Oppenheimer Research Fellowship from 2018 to 2021, and in 2021 was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship along with an ERC Starting Grant. In 2022, she returned to the Physical Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Oxford, where she currently holds her position.
