Biography

Alice joined King's College London in 2023 after an academic appointment at Duke Kunshan University. She received her PhD and MA from Harvard University. Her current book project explores Chinese-Turkish literary relations from the mid-20th century, situating networks of solidarity and cosmopolitan practices formed in the new emerging nations of the period. Her research broadly addresses the special affordances literature offers for expressing new cultural identities and political relations and investigates how understudied transnational literary networks can help reframe the history of the 20th century. She is keen to discuss PhD proposals in research areas such as literature diplomacy, solidarity, world literature, translation, inter-Asian connections, and international modernism. Alice teaches a range of comparative world literature modules and has additional teaching experience in medical humanities and liberal arts. She translates contemporary poetry from Chinese to English and currently serves as the Managing Editor of the Journal of World Literature.
