Alicia Che joined the faculty of Yale Department of Psychiatry in 2021. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Natalia De Marco García at Weill Cornell Medical College and Dr. Gord Fishell at NYU. Che received her Ph.D. in Physiology and Neurobiology from the University of Connecticut in 2014, and a B.S. in Biology, Physics, and Physical Chemistry from Pacific Lutheran University in Washington State in 2009. Che's research focuses on the role of oxytocin in social behavior and tactile perception, especially in relation to autism spectrum disorders. Her work investigates the neural mechanisms underlying how tactile input and social behavior interact, utilizing techniques such as mouse genetics and two-photon imaging to reveal the circuits involved in social interactions. She is also studying the circuit-level mechanisms of extinction learning in PTSD, aiming to understand the developmental and functional aspects of fear extinction. Che has been recognized with awards including the NARSAD Young Investigator Award and the K99/R00 Pathway Independence Award.
