Dr. Alicia Jones

Biography

Alicia Jones, OD, is an Instructor in Optometric Sciences at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, specializing in the medical management of glaucoma and co-management of post-surgical cases. She emphasizes comprehensive optometric care, with expertise in dry eye and blepharitis management. Dr. Jones studied Pre-Optometry at MCPHS University and completed her Doctorate in Optometry at the State University of New York College of Optometry. Before joining her current department, she gained extensive experience evaluating cases of cataracts, retinal pathology, and glaucoma in a private ophthalmology practice, as well as triaging emergency ophthalmic consultations at a nonprofit teaching hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Jones actively contributes to the education of fellow optometrists, ophthalmology residents, and medical students through lectures, workshops, and academic posters on various topics, including the ocular effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and glaucoma management. In addition to mentoring optometry students through SUNY’s Family of Mentors Program, she is engaged in research aimed at understanding the practice patterns of optometrists and ophthalmologists in managing glaucoma suspects and ocular hypertensives.
