Biography

Alicia Nijdam-Jones is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba, specializing in areas of Clinical Forensic Psychology. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a forensic specialization at Fordham University in 2020. Prior to that, she earned an MA in Criminology from Simon Fraser University in 2012 and another MA in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University in 2016. Her postdoctoral training involved a clinical psychology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Nijdam-Jones's research focuses on violence risk assessment, malingering assessment, and stalking, employing forensic assessment measures tailored to linguistically and culturally diverse samples. Currently, her projects explore cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural validity in violence risk and malingering assessment tools across Latin America, the United States, and Canada. She collaborates with researchers from UCSF, Fordham University, and across Latin America, striving to bring diverse perspectives into her research. Alicia is fluent in both English and Spanish, further enriching her interaction with diverse populations and enhancing her research capabilities.
