Professor Murad Alim's research focuses on quantum geometry and the mathematical structures that describe quantization problems in physical systems. He uses methods from complex algebraic geometry, representation theory, and number theory to explore the relationship between perturbative and non-perturbative physical structures, particularly through resurgence techniques in the context of topological string theory, mirror symmetry, and BPS structures in supersymmetric theories. After completing his studies in mathematics and physics at Karlsruhe and ENS Paris, Alim earned his PhD in mathematical physics in 2009. He held a postdoctoral position at the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics in Bonn and in the physics and mathematics departments at Harvard University before returning to Germany to lead an Emmy Noether group in Hamburg. He became an associate professor in mathematical physics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and is set to assume a professorship in quantum geometry at the Technical University of Munich in 2025.
