The Cognition in Collectives Lab investigates how cognition manifests in ways that are influenced by social contexts. The focus lies on two main areas: 1) how conversational interactions reshape memory, promoting both shared remembering and shared forgetting, and 2) how socio-cognitive processes facilitate the formation of collective memories and beliefs. The lab explores these issues while maintaining high ecological validity, incorporating a wide range of methodologies including laboratory experiments, field studies, social network analysis, and agent-based simulations. Collectively, this research demonstrates how macro-level social phenomena can emerge from psychologically informed micro-level local dynamics.
