Biography

Dr. Alina O’Brien is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She directs the Postdoctoral Pediatric Dentistry Program and has a strong background in pediatric dental research and clinical practice. Dr. O’Brien completed her Bachelor’s degree in French Biology Society from Cornell University in 2010 and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Columbia University in 2017. Following her DDS, she completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Prior to her appointment at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. O’Brien was an Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine and was involved in research focused on the prevention of early childhood caries. She has received several awards throughout her career, including the Divisional Excellence Award in Pediatric Dentistry in 2017. Dr. O’Brien is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and has held various committee positions in professional organizations related to dental research and pediatric dentistry.
