Biography

Aline Steinbrecher Frei is a lecturer in Modern History at the University of Zurich. After studying General History and Education, she earned her doctorate at the University of Zurich with a dissertation on the treatment of madness in the Early Modern period. Her habilitation in 2017 focused on the human-dog relationship in the long 18th century. She has served for many years as an assistant and senior assistant at the Historical Seminar. Most recently, she was a Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg of the University of Konstanz. Her teaching and research experience includes positions at the Welcome Institute in London, the Historical Seminar in Konstanz, the Historical Seminar in Münster, and the Institute for the History of Medicine in Basel and Freiburg.
