Biography

Alireza Abbasi joined UNSW Canberra as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Systems & Computing in 2012. His research focuses on devising intelligent data-driven decision support methods to mitigate uncertainties in real-world socio-technical systems, utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence methods and technologies. He has developed tools and methods that facilitate the development of resilient and sustainable systems across various domains, including public health, transportation, energy, construction, and manufacturing. Alireza has published in high-ranked journals and is recognized among the top 2% of scientists by Stanford/Elsevier in 2020. He has supervised over 13 PhD and Master's research students to completion, mentored several post-doctoral candidates, and has served in leadership roles, including program coordinator for project management and director of postgraduate studies. He is committed to advancing knowledge and practices within his fields of expertise through both teaching and research.
