Biography

Alisa Machner focuses on mineral construction materials with the objective of improving the eco-efficiency of their production and application. Her research investigates the fundamental mechanisms governing hydration and durability of novel, environmentally friendly, sustainable cementitious materials. She employs a combination of experimental multi-method approaches and thermodynamic modeling. Alisa studied Geosciences at the University of Erlangen and obtained her PhD in 2018 from NTNU Trondheim, Norway, where she worked as an industrial PhD student at Norcem Norway. Her doctoral research was centered on the applied research of industrial challenges in the development of new composite cements. Following her PhD, she continued at NTNU as a PostDoc in the Horizon2020 project EnDurCrete, focusing on novel cements that integrate industrial by-products. In September 2020, she began her position as an Assistant Professor of Mineral Construction Materials at the Technical University of Munich.
