Biography

Alison has eleven years of experience teaching secondary geography and continuing work in school mentoring early career teachers. After completing her PGCE in secondary geography at the University of Cambridge, she taught geography and geology, and served as a PGCE mentor at an 11–18 comprehensive school in Essex for six years before taking on the Head of Geography position in a Cambridgeshire school. Transitioning into teacher education, Alison became an Associate Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for independent learning for able students, alongside her responsibilities as Head of Geography. She undertook an MEd in Researching Practice during her teaching career, focusing on the complex concept of sustainable development. Currently, Alison leads the mentor training for the Secondary PGCE course at the Faculty and has worked on teacher training initiatives, including mentoring in Pakistan.
