Biography

Alison K Frazier is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of History and an Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Ph.D. in History from Columbia University in 1997. Her research interests encompass Machiavelli trauma, humanist contributions to liturgy, hexameral commentary, and the editions of Renaissance Saints' Lives, particularly those of Catherine of Siena. Frazier teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses covering Premodern World History, Western Civilization, Medieval and Renaissance history in Continental Europe, focusing on intellectual, cultural, and religious history, as well as biblical exegesis, manuscripts, and printing. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters, including the award-winning “Possible Lives: Authors Saints Renaissance Italy,” published in 2006. Frazier also has served as an editor for works such as 'The Saint Manuscript Print, Italy 1400-1600' and co-editor of 'Essays Renaissance Thought Letters.' Her current research includes a forthcoming book titled 'The Death of Pietropaolo Boscoli: Religion & Politics in Machiavelli's Florence.' Frazier holds prestigious fellowships, including from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Delmas Foundation, and has received various awards for teaching excellence at the University of Texas at Austin.
