Biography

Alison Llewellyn is an Associate Professor in Clinical Research at UWE Bristol. She holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD and is a Chartered Psychologist. She leads the Supportive, Palliative and End of Life Care (SPACE) research theme at UWE’s Centre for Health Clinical Research. Her research primarily focuses on supportive, palliative, and end-of-life care, with current projects aimed at improving the experiences of people living with life-limiting conditions. Alison has extensive involvement with local hospices and holds honorary contracts, notably with Dorothy House Hospice. Her work in the area of end-of-life care includes examining conversations surrounding death and dying and the concept of Death Literacy. Alison’s additional research interests cover quality of life in chronic illness and rehabilitation of chronic pain, particularly post-stroke shoulder pain. She has completed an NIHR-funded project that developed recommendations for the management pathway of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in England. Alison actively supervises Masters, PhD, and Professional Doctorate students with research topics that include physical activity in life and workforce development in end-of-life care.
