Dr. Alison Mccandlish

Biography

Alison McCandlish is a Lecturer in City Planning at the University of Glasgow, where she specializes in Urban Studies and Social Policy. Her academic qualifications include a focus on Environmental Planning and European Urban Conservation, coupled with a PhD that explored the creative research methods for revealing hidden heritage and the role of digital cultural asset mapping in city culture. She is a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and holds the title of chartered town planner. Her research interests encompass Scholarship, Teaching and Learning (SoTL), innovative community engagement in town planning, cultural heritage, and practice-based research in industry. McCandlish's teaching contributions are numerous, including programme convenorship and course design for various urban studies modules. She has supervised PhD candidates and engaged in significant academic and professional activities, including serving as a reviewer for prestigious committees and conferences.
