Dr. Alison Pittman

Biography

Alison Pittman is a Clinical Associate Professor at Texas A&M University College of Nursing. She earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2017, having previously obtained her MSN from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999 and a BS in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University in 1995. Dr. Pittman holds multiple certifications including Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse, Certified Nurse Educator, and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. Her research focuses on pediatric obesity, health disparities affecting children and young adults, innovative teaching strategies in nursing simulation, cultural awareness among nursing students, and qualitative research in women's health. Dr. Pittman actively engages in teaching pediatric nursing and community health nursing. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades for her contributions to nursing education, including the Texas A&M Professorship for Undergraduate Teaching Excellence and recognition for outstanding contributions in peer reviewing for the Journal of Pediatric Nursing. She is also a faculty advisor for the Aggie Pediatric Nurses Association and serves as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
