Dr. Alison Qualtrough

Biography

Alison Qualtrough is a senior lecturer and honorary consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Manchester, having graduated from the University of Leeds Dental School with honors. She has substantial clinical training, during which she completed her MSc and PhD while gaining qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Qualtrough specializes in Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics, and she is listed as a specialist by the General Dental Council. Her major responsibilities include leading clinical education for final-year dental students and overseeing postgraduate programmes in Endodontics. She has contributed significantly to research in Endodontics, specifically focusing on the restoration of root-filled teeth, finite element analysis, dental imaging, and microbiological aspects of endodontic treatment. In addition to her teaching role, she supervises PhD and MSc students and has acted as an external examiner for various institutions. Her work has resulted in several research collaborations and presentations at international conferences. Qualtrough also engages in extensive professional activities, including being a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a council member of the British Endodontic Society.
