Dr. Alison Richardson

Biography

Alison is a Clinical Professor of Cancer Nursing and End of Life Care at the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Her role combines clinical practice with research, focusing on understanding and responding to the needs of people affected by cancer and life-limiting illnesses. Between 2018 and 2022, Alison was a member of the NIHR College of Senior Investigators and became the Director of NIHR ARC Wessex in October 2019. Furthermore, she is the Director of the Southampton Academy of Research, which supports the career development of Southampton's health-related research workforce, collaborating across the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, and University Hospital Southampton. As of September 2020, Alison has also taken on a role as Deputy Director of Nursing Research at NHS England NHS Improvement for two days a week, focusing on academic leadership and strategy.
