Biography

Aliya Frederick is a child neurologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego. Her clinical interests include clinical neurophysiology, headache medicine, and non-invasive neuromodulatory technologies. Dr. Frederick grew up in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania and completed her undergraduate studies in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she participated in the Meyerhoff Scholarship Program. She then matriculated into the Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt University, completing her medical training and earning a doctorate in neuroscience. Dr. Frederick received the National Institutes of Health National Research Service Award Fellowship to support her research. She completed her residency training in child neurology at UC San Diego Rady Children's Hospital, followed by fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology. Dr. Frederick is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology with a special qualification in child neurology. She is active in several professional organizations, including the Child Neurology Society, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, and the American Headache Society, and is a member of the UC San Diego Health Sciences Task Force on Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Additionally, she serves as an associate editor for the editorial board of Child Neurology Open.
