Biography

Aliya Hussaini, M.D., MSc., is an affiliate faculty member in the Departments of Pediatrics and Population Health at Dell Medical School. Her portfolio includes directing U.S. health initiatives at the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in Austin, Texas, where she is responsible for efforts to improve childhood health and wellness through proven strategies and partnerships with both traditional and nontraditional partners. Hussaini's work focuses on increasing access and equity to healthy eating opportunities, generating demand for healthy options, and supporting healthy behaviors and environments. She manages the foundation’s investments in the Central Texas medical community and supports pathways to prosperity for residents in the rapidly growing region. Hussaini completed her undergraduate degrees in biology and economics at Swarthmore College, earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed a pediatrics residency at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, where she also served as chief resident. She furthered her training as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and earned a master's degree in health policy research. In addition to her work at the foundation, Hussaini is a practicing pediatrician at People’s Community Clinic in Austin.
