Biography

Yale gynecologist Dr. Alla V. Vash-Margita focuses on the medical and emotional needs of children and adolescent girls. She teaches medical students about caring for girls aged from birth to 24 years. Dr. Vash-Margita’s clinical interests include Mullerian anomalies, chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, lichen sclerosus in premenarchal girls, and polycystic ovary syndrome in adolescents. After receiving her MD from Uzhgorod State University Medical School in Ukraine, she completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Dr. Vash-Margita is also involved in humanitarian efforts, providing psychological counseling to victims of the 2014 Ukraine Revolution and establishing a non-profit organization, Doctors United Ukraine, to support educational opportunities for Ukrainian scholars affected by the ongoing conflict. She speaks six languages and actively participates in various global health initiatives.
