Biography

Saxophonist, Composer, and Arranger from Victoria, British Columbia, Allan McLean has been residing in Montreal since 1995. He is a sought-after freelance saxophonist and an expert in saxophone history restoration. McLean is a long-time member of the Brian Hurley Quartet and the Joe Sullivan Sextet, and has served as a featured soloist, composer, and arranger for the Joe Sullivan Big Band, Vic Vogel Big Band, and Chateauguay Tenors. He has performed and recorded with numerous artists across various styles of music, including Jimmy Cobb, Lenny White, Tyler Mitchell, Gary Smulyan, George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi, and Seamus Blake. His improvisations are described as a fluid and masterful expression of the entire lineage of the saxophone.
