Allan Sikk is a Professor of Comparative Politics at University College London, within the School of Slavonic and East European Studies. His current research interests include electoral candidates, party switching in parliaments, and party system evolution. He has published a book titled 'Party People: Candidates and Party Evolution' with Philipp Köker, which examines party change through the lens of candidates and is based on an extensive dataset of electoral candidates in Central and Eastern Europe. As a co-principal investigator of the INSTAPARTY project, funded by the Norwegian Research Council, he studies party instability in parliaments. Allan joined UCL in 2007 after receiving his PhD from the University of Tartu, where he also completed his Master's and Bachelor's degrees. His research focuses on Central and Eastern Europe, and he is interested in using common analytical lenses to compare old and new democracies, believing that the study of politics should integrate classic models of comparative politics with insights from new democracies.
