Biography

Allan Trench is a mineral economist, geophysicist, and business management consultant. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology from the Royal School of Mines, London, a PhD in Geophysics from Glasgow University, an MBA with Distinction from Oxford University, and an MSc with Distinction in Mineral Economics from the WA School of Mines. Before moving to Australia in 1991, Allan was a Royal Society Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow and a Natural Environment Research Council Research Fellow at Oxford University. His industry experience includes leading nickel, gold, and base metal exploration teams and consulting for reputable firms such as McKinsey & Company and Woodside Petroleum. He has served as a Professor of Mineral & Energy Economics at Curtin Graduate School of Business and is now a Professor at UWA Business School, where he directs the MBA program and leads research on Progressive Risk & Value at the Centre for Exploration Targeting. Allan has chaired various mining companies and has a prolific research background with a focus on mineral economics and the mining industry. He actively teaches and provides executive education on mineral economics and management practices across Australia and internationally.
