Dr. Allan Walkey

Biography

Allan Walkey, MD, MSc, is a Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Pulmonary, Allergy, Sleep & Critical Care Medicine. He holds an MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, an MSc from the Boston University School of Public Health, and a BA from Tufts University. Dr. Walkey's research focuses on the epidemiology of clinical outcomes and complications occurring in critically ill patients. His interests include sepsis, acute lung injury, and atrial fibrillation during critical illness. He is committed to enhancing diversity in the biomedical research workforce and reducing healthcare disparities. He actively mentors early career faculty and trainees from diverse backgrounds. He also serves as a co-director at the Evans Center for Implementation & Improvement Sciences at Boston Medical Center. His work has led to multiple projects aimed at understanding and addressing health inequities, including the implementation of strategies to enhance vaccine uptake and manage diabetes disparities among different racial and ethnic groups.
