Biography

Allana Lindgren is a Professor and Dean of Fine Arts at the University of Victoria. She completed her undergraduate studies with a BA (Honours) in English Literature at the University of Victoria, followed by an MA in Dance History at York University, and a PhD in Theatre History from the University of Toronto. Lindgren has been a visiting faculty member at the University of Calgary and a Research Visitor at the University of Ottawa’s Institute of Canadian Studies. Her research focuses on North American dance history, modernism, Canadian theatre history, and Canadian cultural diplomacy, with a strong interest in oral history within the performing arts. She is currently a co-investigator on a nation-wide SSHRC-funded project, "Gatherings: Archival Oral Histories Canadian Performance." Lindgren’s scholarly contributions include notable publications such as edited volumes on Canadian performance and modernist dance, as well as journal articles exploring various facets of dance and theatre. Furthermore, she has served on the Executive Board of the Society of Dance History Scholars and has actively participated in community outreach initiatives.
