Biography

Allegra Cummings is a board-certified Obstetrician Gynecologist who has maintained a thriving OB/GYN practice in New York City since 2002. She has a special interest in supporting women in their choices regarding vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC). Dr. Cummings received her undergraduate education at Barnard College, Columbia University, and earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. During her training, she was an active member of the Student National Medical Association, serving as the Regional Director for New York and New Jersey. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, which is part of Mount Sinai. While in residency, she was awarded the David B. Crawford Prize for professionalism and leadership and was a finalist for a teaching award given by Columbia University medical students in 2011. Dr. Cummings has served as a faculty attending for obstetrics gynecology residents at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and has received the National Faculty Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for her commitment to resident education. She is fluent in English and speaks functional Spanish.
