Biography

Allen Ferrell is the Harvey Greenfield Professor of Securities Law at Harvard Law School. He is also a faculty associate at the Kennedy School of Government and serves as the chairman of the Harvard Advisory Committee on Shareholder Responsibility. Ferrell has a distinguished background, having previously worked as a board member on the Economic Advisors for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and as a research fellow at FINRA. He is a member of the ABA Task Force on Corporate Governance and has authored numerous publications on capital market regulation, securities litigation, and corporate governance. His notable works include studies on shareholder rights and firm valuation, 10b-5 damages, and mandated disclosure impacts on stock returns. Ferrell received his Ph.D. in economics from MIT, his J.D. from Harvard Law School, and both his B.A. and M.A. from Brown University. His clerkship included time with Judge Silberman on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and with Justice Kennedy at the Supreme Court of the United States.
