Biography

Allen Hsiao MD, FAAP, FAMIA, is a Professor of Pediatrics, Biomedical Informatics Data Science, and Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Chief Health Information Officer for both Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health System. Additionally, he holds the position of Vice Chair of Clinical Systems within Biomedical Informatics Data Science. Dr. Hsiao completed his BA in Biomedical Ethics and MD at Brown University, and he has extensive residency training in Pediatrics at Yale, followed by fellowships in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Medical Informatics. He has published numerous articles in pediatric healthcare informatics literature and regularly presents at national and international conferences. His research primarily focuses on leveraging informatics and electronic health record (EHR) support to improve health systems and optimize transitions of care. As a primary investigator, he has worked on NIH and AHRQ-funded projects that explore the impact of health information technology on healthcare improvement. He co-directs the Informatics Core at Yale’s Clinical Translational Science Award and is heavily involved in promoting health equity through inclusive clinical research. He is actively engaged in various medical informatics-related committees and organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Health Information Management Systems Society.
