Biography

Allen MacDuffie is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of Texas at Austin, where he specializes in Victorian literature, modernist literature, ecocriticism, and television media studies. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2006. His book, 'Victorian Literature, Energy, Ecological Imagination,' won the 2014 Sonya Rudikoff Prize. His upcoming book, 'Climate Denial: Darwin, Climate Change Literature Long Nineteenth Century,' is shortlisted for the Stansky Prize and has won the North American Victorian Studies Association Book Prize. MacDuffie's scholarly work has been published in prominent academic venues such as PMLA, Representations, ELH, Victorian Studies, and Cultural Critique. He is also a co-editor of the Texas Studies in Literature and Language journal. MacDuffie actively engages students through various courses such as Middlemarch Modernism and Scholarly Publication in English, enhancing their understanding of literature in relation to ecological and societal issues.
