Allison Crawford advances public mental health with a key focus on improving access and equity in mental health care. Her research encompasses suicide prevention and digital health, partnering to support Indigenous circumpolar health and well-being. Allison holds a PhD in English Literature, integrating arts into health research, and founded the HeART Lab, which focuses on health equity through art and research technology. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief for Ars Medica, a journal dedicated to medicine, arts, and humanities. Currently, she is the Chief Medical Officer for the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, a national suicide prevention service. Additionally, she is a psychiatrist and researcher at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and Medical Director of Virtual Mental Health Psychiatry Outreach, and serves as a Professor in the Psychiatry department at the University of Toronto.
