Biography

Allison M. Dennis completed her B.S. in Bioengineering and B.A. in German at Rice University in 2002. She undertook research at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Universität Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany, as a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Dennis earned her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009, after which she completed post-doctoral research in nanomaterials chemistry at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 2013, she joined Boston University's Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Division of Materials Science and Engineering, where she is also a member of the Photonics Center and the Nanotechnology Innovation Center (BUNano). Her research focuses on advanced Quantum Dot chemistries and their applications in fluorescent biosensing and biomedical imaging. Dr. Dennis has been actively involved in various funded research projects aimed at developing biodegradable and biocompatible semiconductor nanoparticles for deep tissue imaging, with roles in several NIH-funded initiatives and other research grants.
