Biography

Allison Eden (Ph.D. Michigan State University) is a Professor and the Director of Doctoral Studies in the Department of Communication at Michigan State University. Her research primarily focuses on understanding media enjoyment, specifically the role enjoyment plays in attention selection and media content, as well as the effects of entertainment on user behavior and well-being. Dr. Eden's findings have been published in several respected journals, including the Journal of Communication, Journal of Media Psychology, Media Psychology, and the Mass Communication Society. In addition, she serves as an associate editor for the Psychology of Popular Media (APA). Currently, Dr. Eden also leads the Introduction to Human Communication (COM 100) course at Michigan State University and teaches classes such as Audience Response to Media Entertainment (COM 375) and at the graduate level, Effective College Teaching (CAS 892) and Mass Communication Theory (COM 821) on alternating years. Her research interests encompass Media Entertainment, Well-being, and Morality.
