Dr. Allison Hartnett

Biography

Allison Hartnett is an Assistant Professor in Political Science at USC Dornsife. She specializes in International Relations and Middle East Studies, with a focus on the political dynamics of the Middle East. She obtained her Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Oxford in November 2019. Prior to her current position, she completed a Postdoctoral Associate role at the Leitner Program in Political Economy at Yale University from September 2018 to June 2020. Additionally, she was a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Middle East Initiative during the 2017-2018 academic year. Over her academic career, Hartnett has contributed to various publications including books and journal articles that examine themes like colonial legacies, government response to crises such as COVID-19, and refugee integration. Her research interests include constructing datasets related to governance and political responses in the context of the Middle East. Hartnett continues to engage with ongoing research and collaborations within her fields of expertise.
